Thanks all - i appreciate your kudos. Funny thing, this is a pretty tight piece for me... not the usual abandon with the brushwork. I attribute this to my having painted it while recovering from Vertigo - probably an unconscious effort to regain "control".

Artist's Description

A painted this quite controlled piece (odd for me lately - as I've tended to be more painterly and loose) when I was recovering from vertigo. Possibly an attempt to regain "control." The painting has a silk flower on the lapel of the Admiral. The large tag hanging from the birds mouth was (albeit nonsensical) placed to balance the painting. It seemed an appropriate place to plop my "Tim" signature.
