Advertisement for X-Radium cooking utensils. In 1905, when the advert was produced, radioactive elements such as radium were still considered beneficial to health. Radium was discovered in 1898 by the French scientists Marie and Pierre Curie. Marie Curie died from leukaemia brought on from working with radioactive elements.
