A set of boxcab electrics runs ahead of an approaching summer storm. The painting is set near Harlowton, Montana on the eastern end of the Milwaukee's electrified territory. Christopher Jenkins is an American artist who specializes in painting the trains, ships and airplanes from America￿s great industrial age. His work has been displayed in galleries, museums, and other public venues. Paintings by Christopher Jenkins have appeared in nationally distributed magazines, including American Art Collector Magazine.

I am an American artist who specializes in transportation subjects. I am retired after a 34 year career in the freight railroad industry, so I am familiar with my favorite subject matter. My objective is to capture the essence of a scene or a machine, but without distracting detail. In many of the paintings, I have worked to create a sense of motion. The paintings are created using traditional drawing and painting techniques, and a variety of high quality oil paints, brushes and other tools, including the painting knife. My process is as follows: I begin by making several pencil sketches from different angles and distances. Once I am confident I have a solid plan, I make a more detailed sketch with appropriate shading. Then,...
