This is a painting of the SS American Victory docked by the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. We visited this ship on Saturday, September 17, 2011 with the plan to paint a picture of the ship "plein air" style. But the area around the ship had no shade and it was a hot and sunny day. So, instead, we photographed the ship from all angles. That didn't work, either, because we were too close and the ship was too tall. I ended up using a postcard and painted this painting on Sunday, 9/18. So, technically, because I used a photograph for reference, this is not a "plein air" painting. Oh well. Anyway, Hu, my dog, was with us and so before leaving the ship Robin went into the ship to see if we could tour the American Victory with the dog. The attendants on the ship asked if the dog could fit in our pockets. Robin answered, "No," but the attendants still wanted to see Hu.
