Quiet country roads with the sound of horses hooves clopping along. The birds singing, a babbling brook and a shady lane all contribute to this scene. The foreground is a dark shady lane framed with to large oak trees on both sides of the oil painting. Blotches of sunshine punctuate the dirt road. A white fence lines both sides of the road and leads the viewer's eyes to the covered bridge with horse and buggy coming out of it towards the viewer. The sun is shining directly on the red bridge and the dark interior shows cracks of light through the walls.
