Artist's Description
"Orange Bison" is a mixed media piece with a large fused glass bison as a focal point. Thematically, it's about being different and standing up for ones beliefs, even with the knowledge that doing so could result in physical or emotional trauma, or even death. This collage pays homage to those in the arts and politics who have braved the wrath of others yet remained true to themselves.
About Mark Lubich
Mark Lubich was born in Port Hueneme, California in 1956. He graduated from West Seattle High School in 1974 and the University of Washington, with a BA in History, in 1978. He was commissioned a 2LT in the US Army in 1982 and, as a Captain, became medically disabled in 1988. He is a self taught artist who started working with mixed media in 1992. He began experimenting with glass in 1999. Currently, he’s incorporating fused glass with mixed media collage. He also continues to do sculptural glass pieces Distinctions and Awards 2015 Veteran's 2014 National Arts Competition, Puget Sound Region, 1st Place in Fiber Arts Original Design, 1st Place in Applied Arts Mixed Media and 2nd Place in Glass VA...
