Artist's Description
This triptych showcases some of the beautiful details in the beautiful interior of the Durham Museum in Omaha, Nebraska. Formerly a train station, Union Station, the art deco style building has a sculptured plaster ceiling with painted gold and silver leaf trim; bronze, copper and glass chandeliers; and a patterned terrazzo floor. It included a baggage checkroom, dining room, gift shop and soda fountain, barber shop, telephone and telegraph facilities, information and taxicab stations, a newsstand, an emergency first-aid station, a lounge for women and an area reserved for servicemen traveling through the station. In this presentation the central lobby is flanked by ceiling close-ups taken at either end of the hall.
