Artist's Description

I spent 18 months working as a groom in rural Rutland, UK, and every morning when feeding the mares and foals out in the fields I\'d see this majestic ash tree. Its branches were beautiful any time of the day or year- naked of leaves and covered in hoar frost, lush, verdant and surrounded by horses or as a bold silhouette in the winter moonlight. About Becca Thorne

Becca Thorne

After growing up in the depths of the Forest of Dean, surrounded by ancient trees and unsure whether I should work with animals or draw pictures for the rest of my life, I made my choice and moved to Cornwall, where I spent 4 lovely years playing by the sea and gaining an MA in Illustration from Falmouth College of Arts. After a year's travelling and a brief dalliance as a groom, I now work as a freelance illustrator in Bristol. I work mostly in lino cut and take inspiration from Anglo Saxon imagery, Art Nouveau prints and fairy tales as well as books, music and the natural world. My work has been used for books, editorials, music, logo design and public art. Recent clients include The Folio Society, BBC History Magazine, Canongate...
