Artist's Description

35mm film negative photograph shot with Kodak Portra. Rich colours and high dynamic range. Recently I have being studying about the conflict on “primitivism” (works towards abstract and imaginary) vs mimesis (works towards reality copies and materialistic experience). Thinking about the direction photography and art in a whole have being taking and trying this return to “primitivism” in photography. For it, I have experimenting with pinhole photography, soft images and grainy images among others technical characteristics. I can’t tell that I have a specific style or that I reached concept. What I have and still do are studies and experiments, bowing different characteristics and subjects.

About Marcio Faustino

Marcio Faustino

Thinking about the direction photography and art in a whole have being taking I try to return to “primitivism”. For it, I have shifted completely to Pinhole photography. It is part of my project concept on "rustic mode" towards the simple, natural and soulful (pictorialistic) photograph characteristic.Specially for landscape and portrait. I am in love with pinhole simplicity, its soft images and contact prints. It takes me back to photography essence. My name is Márcio Faustino and I was born in 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I stepped into photography field in Ireland and I am now based in southwest Germany. My formal exhibition include: The Digital Darkroom in New Zealand (2010), Oisin Gallery in Ireland (2011/2012) and 'Art - Frisör'...
