One aspect of the focus of my artwork which is to paint the words of our Holy Sages is to take to words out of their tradional context of being read in a sefer in the process of learning Torah. For, even though that there is nothing more important thatn learning Torah, as it is taught: Talmud Torah is weighed against everything else; nevertheless we are also taught: the learning is not the essential aspect, rather the doing; and as we are taught: great is learning for it leads to doing. In summation: learing Torah is absolutely essiential for without it it is impossible to perform the mitzvoth for one cannot do what he doesn't first know. But the purpose of learning is to perform what is learnt.
We are also taught in the verse: And you shall know today and return it unto your heart...that is; all our learning cannot remain in the mind alone rather it must be layed upon and taken to heart.
