Tourist websites often make much ado about nothing but their description of the view of Avila from the Cuartos Postes viewpoint was accurate: 'The view of the town is nothing short of spectacular. And if you go there in the evening, it is particularly magical to see how the town lights up with the walls in the foreground and the Avila sky changing from blue to black; it is an experience that is not easily forgotten.' I stayed here for about 90 minutes as it got darker and darker and I got colder and colder in this windy exposed viewpoint but it was worth every minute! Not to be believed was the posting on Trip Advisor regarding this viewpoint: 'A place to get a panoramic view of the city walls of Avila, nothing more, nothing less. Just a five minute stop suffices. Good place for a selfie, if that's your thing. Nice views all round, just a photo-stop.' Don't believe everything you read on Trip Advisor!
