Artist's Description
This watercolor painting began with an on site sketch and photo session at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, Wisconsin. I use paint in both a loose and controlled manner to capture atmosphere, light and reflection while allowing my creativity to evolve the painting. Named for their distinctive whooping calls, the whooping crane is the tallest bird in North America and one of its most endangered.
About Vicky Lilla
Vicky Lilla is a working artist with a studio in southwest Wisconsin. While living in Wisconsin Vicky became fascinated with the local landscape, rural buildings and regional wildlife especially the native sand hill cranes and the endangered whooping cranes. Her work is included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. Artist Statement A successful watercolor painting expresses organic fluid movement and a natural energy created by glowing layers of transparent paint. I strive to achieve this purpose as well as an individual edge on realism in my landscape, nature, still life and portrait paintings.
