A beginning series of patterns from stained glass windows. Embedded tissue in the wax on the background and on some of the leaves. All done with a hot stylus pen point to melt the wax.
About John Vandebrooke
Art was a distraction from business for some 40 years and then upon retirement I discovered wax and my world turned upside down. I did a 180 degree turn and art became my focus, thus the name of my studio 180. I started in a co op gallery in Edmonds, WA called Gallery North. Soon was asked to teach wax painting and also to give talks and demos at art groups and civic groups. Since my wife and I like to escape the rain in the winter we headed south to Calif , AZ , TX and NM and I found venues along the way to teach on the road. This has been our winter paid vacations for several years. I took my lead from Michael Bossoms of Wales. He had developed a style I call the European Style of Encaustic using just hot tools.
