This is a Batik; it is not a painting. It was made from dyes on cotton fabric. This lovely child takes a bear cub into her arms and gives it love. Dressed in her winter reds, she nurtures the bear cub like most children do their stuffed animals. This is a real bear with a stuffed animal paw on the rear left leg to add a bit of abstract to this figurative work. As children, we loved our stuffed "babies," so, it is also a reminder to continue to appreciate and care about animals, wildlife and pets. Hopefully, we never outgrown our love for the creatures that God blessed us with. This is not a painting; it was done on cotton fabric with dyes and wax in a negative process to create the work. The original sold, so I'm sorry only prints are available. However, if you like batiks, simply contact owner and I can show you what else I have available. Larger prints can also be made available with numbered and signed giclee prints.
