Artist's Description

A section of what is known as the Bloody Angle in Concord, Mass. (USA) where colonists ambushed British troops retreating to Boston about 30 minutes after the skirmishes at the Old North Bridge began; Emerson's "Shot Heard 'Round the World". This was one of the few places along the 15-mile trail that offered tree cover for the colonists. The British marched in formation, four abreast and were shot at from behind trees and rock walls.
