Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. A big thank you for your talent & putting out there to buy your beautiful map!!!

Artist's Description

For the purists: The French Roundel marking on the bottom of the upper, left wing is not a marking at all. It is the reflection in the sunlight of the roundel on the top surface of the wing shining through the semi- translucent fabric covering. This was the machine the first American fighter aces flew in the Lafayette Escadrille - the Nieuport 11. "Bebe," French meaning baby. As a pilot, this would have been a nightmare to fly. There was no provision for trimming the pressures and forces on the control stick and the rudder bar. In this extremely light airframe, the 250 lb whirling rotary engine would have constantly caused the aircraft to yaw and roll left and, unchecked manually, over onto its back. After two hours flying this machine the pilot was probably completely exhausted, physically and mentally. The 90 mph propwash would have constantly shoved the pilot back in his seat straining him and would have soaked him in castor oil and soot from the exhaust. Nasty things to handle and f...

Hello everyone, it is very nice to be here at Fine Art America, I feel surrounded by beauty and imagination when I visit. I can lose myself for hours admiring the creations of other artists on this site. Before I could even walk I had two passions: airplanes and drawing. I would crawl to the screen door every time an old, Stearman crop duster roared overhead. Then I'd crawl back to my pad on the floor and draw stick-figure airplanes. I can still smell the DDT. Airplanes are fun to draw to this day, but I'm always looking for a new avenue to go down. I enjoy pen and ink drawing more than any other medium because it can have such high emotional impact. There is something ancient about the medium that fascinates me continuously. The...
