I bought this in the greeting card form. I have been purchasing cards from Fine Art America for two or three years. Covid might have been some of the reason for looking for cards on the internet. Shops were closed. The main reason I buy cards from FAA is because I got tired of looking for cards at the usual card shops. I could find cards (sometimes) that looked good on the outside but the verses were terrible or it was the other way around...terrible on the outside but maybe a decent verse inside. I pick cards from FAA that fit with the occasion. I figure I can write something on the inside as good as any card company could. I wouldn't buy these cards if I didn't think they were wonderful. The cards are beautiful and excellent quality and the envelopes are equality as good. I am glad I can make a copy of what I've bought so I can keep track of who gets what card. I don't want to send the same card to someone twice. In this case, the card is going to someone for Mother's Day.

When we think of Venice, we usually think of water canals, and aged sienna structures baking in the sun under a bright blue sky; elaborate, masked festivals of the most elegant kind. We think of solid, ancient stone bridges, old outdoor fountains, and merry gondoliers gliding smoothly along the water expertly steering passengers in their watercraft.
About the gondoliers: to become a licensed gondolier requires entry into a 1,000 year-old, exlusive, all-male guild to learn the rigorous craft of Venetian water navigation, with the gondoliers always being passed the business from their fathers (the first female gondolier was accepted only recently, also preceding her father, but only as a stand-in). This is a highly-regarded, sought-after profession, with high earnings.
The gondoliers have a recognizable dress, because the dress code within their order requ...

I love your description, Connie.......and this visage...we take for granted what has been a visual all our lives.......Venice, the boats, the canals..........and though a relic, like me,lol........Venice will always be the same and move with the times, yes, it has that timelessness. And it has a very dark history that is so fascinating in the face of its ongoing beauty. I could go on. I adored Venice, sigh. And I love your photo............fv............VIVA
