This is a depiction of Mary in the last moments of Christ's life. It was painted as a study using the verdaccio technique style taught by the Italian masters.

About Lester Nielsen

Lester Nielsen

Lester was born in Salt Lake City Utah in 1950. He grew up loving art, and was very involved in art and music throughout his elementary schooling. After high school, he was awarded a scholarship in Commercial Art. He received high marks and invited to attend the Art School in Los Angeles, but marriage and children interrupted his art career when it became necessary to keep food on the table. He became a General Contractor, and for 37 years was heavily involved in the building business... but never lost hope that one day he would return to his first love of life... art. For that past three years, he has done nothing but art, both attending and teaching classes, and is finally on his way to becoming the serious artist he always...
