This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
During the Hundred Years' War, Beynac-et-Cazenac housed the French, while the British headquarters were across the river at Chteau Castelnaud. It is hard to image so much strife happened all those years ago in what is such a beautiful and peaceful place now. I left a lot of "air" in this canvas, to indicate the feeling more than the mere appearance.

So much to enjoy in this painting. I love the way the dark burgundy makes a frame for the action. And it's happening: the boats on the river with the tiny figures in blue with more blue on the shore... very exciting! Wonderful! f/v

I really appreciate your comments Nancy, thank you so much!!

Your paintings have to be soaked up slowly RW! I like just to feel my way around each piece .I don't know of anyone who paints in this style, and it's not easy to be unique among so many artists.I love the depth and mood of this. And what feels like a beautiful maroon-pink glow! Don't know how that happens! v/f
R W Goetting replied:
Thank you for visiting my work and for your kind words. You are right, sometimes my work gets rather dense with painterly effects! This one had alizarin, rose and cad red in it in various combinations that lended that glow to it. I appreciate your kind words Jane, Bob
