Cyanotype are also called sun prints. I used the good old fashioned sun to print this crosee from a cemetery door in St. Louis, MO. I am intrigued by the the brush strokes and happy accidents that happen with this old printing process from the mid 1800's.
My current passion is an alternative photographic process called Polaroid transfers. Each transfer is hand-made by the photographer using specific materials and equipment to achieve a desired effect. A transparency is projected on to professional Polaroid print film and as development begins, the print and chemicals are prematurely separated. The image is transferred on to dampened watercolor paper for a unique image which has a dated, artistic photo-painting appearance. Exposure, pressure, time, paper and other variables make each print an original mono-print. I like blue-tones like this one. Did you print it yourself with a contact process? Outdoors or indoors? I've always wanted to try that process, but I use an archival printer and make duo and quadtones to imitate the historical processes..
