Artist's Description

For many years now, the old Eau Gallie section of Melbourne, Florida has been the home of a colony of Blue-crowned Parakeets often called Conures by many people. My wife told me that while going to garage sales last week, she happened to be at a small park located in front of the Eau Gallie Yacht Club off Young Street, and saw a large number of Blue-crowned Parakeets in the oak trees at the park. I went there today, but although I saw several flying in the area, only one was in the park for me to photograph. It seemed very interested in a cavity in one oak tree (they nest in cavities).

About Ira Runyan

Now if you want to see that wildlife you must go out into the deep woods and swamps of Florida, something that not everyone can do. Now that I am retired, I am trying to document the Wonders of Florida Wildlife and Nature in photographs so that it can be enjoyed by all of our citizens who may not have the opportunity to personally see the the natural and beautiful...
