This tote bag is gorgeous! I saw a picture of it and had to have it. The colors are just beautiful. The size is better than I expected, because it's larger than I had envisioned it. It is practical and functional as well as beautiful. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I love this bag so much! It is well made; the image is sharp and the colors rich.
Body of a Woman was inspired by two things. My gorgeous model, Amber and a poem by Pablo Neruda entitled Body of a Woman from his book, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair. The canvas has the poem written on the back both in Spanish and English. "Body of a woman, white hills, white thighs. You look like a world, lying in surrender." My hope is that I have done his beautiful poem justice.
My perspective begins poetically with me alone. It extends out to the mood of my models, then to my drawing, my painting, and ultimately to the living spaces of my patrons. I am utterly and unashamedly ecumenical in my fascination with the human form and the imaginative capacity for loving of its inhabitants. “Carolyn Weltman is an expressive figurative artist whose work includes female, male, transgender and transitioning subjects. Carolyn's raw, sensual style takes subjects drawn from life, embracing both their power and their vulnerability. Carolyn's work is full of wonder.” I love to work directly with clients to create something you will treasure for ever. Please contact me if you are interested in creating a beautiful...

Stunning work, Carolyn, and I see you are also familiar with Pablo Neruda-my husband used a quote from his poetry in one of his books... ! This painting is so beautiful! I find the ordinary to be quite extraordinary and you have certainly done justice to the poetry and real life! jean
Carolyn Weltman replied:
thank you so much, Jean. yes, i am a big Neruda fan though my absolute favourite is Arenas.
Sydne Archambault

Patrick Anthony Pierson
With it's languid sensuality - almost reminiscent of another of my favorite artists, Lucien Freud - and your choice of fleshy ochres over a blood-red background, this gorgeous painting makes it so hard to stop looking! Also, the self-assured line indicating a steady hand, which is what I love so much about drawing...it would make Degas jealous. Brilliant, Carolyn!
Carolyn Weltman replied:
that's very generous of you, Patrick. Freud is an artist i've studied intensely as he made a difficult transition from drawing to painting to become one of the greatest artists of the human figure ever, in my eyes. i've also found that transition to be really difficult. thanks to him, i've learnt a lot.
Michel Verhoef
Great poem by Neruda...and work by the one and only Carolyn !
Carolyn Weltman replied:
Yes, Michel, what a combination! :) I wish!

Walter Fahmy
This is a great painting, slightly abstracted but kept all the important elements of a beautiful female body.
Carolyn Weltman replied:
thanks so much, Walter. this is the only painting i've done where i painted straight onto the canvas with no drawing first.
