This image from Fenway Park celebrates the Red Sox 1912 World Series championship over John McGraw's New york Giants. Boston won the best of seven game series in EIGHT games (yes, eight games) due to Game 5 ending in a tie. Boston won the deciding eigth game with a 2-run 10th inning rally, capitalizing on two New York fielding mistakes. The series featured the, future Hall of Famer Christy Matthewson for New York and fireballer Smoky Joe Wood for Boston. By 1918 the Boston had captured 5 World Series titles. Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox, opened its gates in 1912.
