Camila y el Caribe Original Pastel Painting on Canson Mis Tientes Paper by Jim Barber Hove-2012-18.5"x29.5"(47.5 cm x 61.5 cm)-With wooden frame and matting with non-glare protective glass included.I took this picture in Cancun and then painted it almost literally. I saw no need to make a great deal of changes. Here you see my lovely grandchild, Camila, who just loves the beach and, with her parents, share our vacations as often as possible. In this painting we see her enjoying the white sand at the edge of the Caribbean Sea at our Villa in Cancun. The rocky reefs you see are not a usual facet of the Cancun beaches but only appear after the watery violence of a passing hurricane whose high winds, torrential rainfall, and crashing waves have torn up the once lovely beach and deposited its sands far out into the ocean. Since I can remember I have had an urge to express myself artistically. As a young student, I was interested in sports, singing and theater. In my years at West Bend High School, I was selected to sing in the school choir, to play trumpet in the school band and to act in the school musical productions. Upon finishing high school I attended Saint Olaf�s College in Northfield, Minnesota for four years. After graduating from college I found a job as a Spanish teacher in my home town. During this time I was able, after school hours, to get involved in what I love, the arts.
