Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Artist's Description

In 1856, the First Order Fresnel Lens was lit, and the first lighthouse on the peninsula began warning vessels of the hazards of the sandbar exiting the Columbia River going into the Pacific Ocean and what was known as "The graveyard of the Pacific." Prior to that time, only marking on trees, oil pots and small flags, warned Sea Captains of the dangerous tides, rocks and bars. A giant Brass bell was used to warn ships during foggy times, but because of some faults, it's use was discontinued. In 1937, the giant first order lens was replaced with a smaller lens, but still had power because this one was electrically powered. This lens was later replaced with an Aero Beacon Lens, which proved more powerful. In 1939, the U.S. Coast Guard, took over operation of both Cape Disappointment and North Head Lighthouse, located a short distance to the North. Both lighthouses are still in use, and have become two of the most favorite tourist attractions in Ilwaco and the mighty Columbia River...

Throughout the last 30 years, Jim has had a passion for painting buildings, but has specialized in painting lighthouses and barns, and has been commissioned to paint many churches, barns, victorian homes, and lighthouses by people all over the western United States. For the last 7 years, Pastor Jim Lyman has been serving the Lord in Port Townsend at the Evangelical Bible Church, in addition to his art business. Jim has been married to his beautiful wife Terree for 32 years and they plan to continue their travels around the country finding new masterpieces to create. All of my prints...
