Pat Speirs replied:

Thanks Elaine, much appreciated.

Had no idea there are so many of these vintage war birds still around (albeit, suppose many are reproductions). I order to get the shots (photos) of these aircraft, you must have been in an aircraft yourself when taking these pictures.

Pat Speirs replied:

Hi Roger - only a very few of the shots (Canberra particularly) were air to air. Remainder are shot from ground, airshow pilots are extremely good at 'showing off'' their aircraft thus enabling me to get the look of being there. Most of the WW! warbirds are reproductions - the Bristol F2b and some of the 1930's biplanes being the exceptions as they are original airframes. Good to talk to you......Pat

Come again? I see you have tagged this "digital art". You mean to say you produce these amazing work of art digitally? How in the world? I would swear these are paintings. (If I knew of a way to send you a more personalized email through this web site, I would.)

Pat Speirs replied:

Hi Roger, Got your message before reading your comments on my posts. All of the images are created from airshow and landscape photographs and merged/modified digitally. Thanks for your appreciation and will follow up on the link you provided........Pat

Wonderful shot Pat!!!

Pat Speirs replied:

Thanks Bill .....enjoy your pint and Season's Greetings to you and yours!

Artist's Description

SE5 A Cat among the Pigeons Over Flanders skies a marauding SE5 falls on a couple of rather unwary Fokker triplanes. One breaks hard port and dives to relative safety - the other is less positive in avoiding action and ends up behind the SE5s guns. A daily action sequence during WW1 where few pilots lived beyond the first few weeks of combat. A companion image to Bad day at the Office.
