About Daniel Dempster
For more than thirty years Daniel Dempster has roamed the backroads and wild places of America seeking out and capturing the beauty of this wonderful land. Whether he is photographing the powerful thoroughbreds of Kentucky as they thunder down the stretch at Churchill Downs or roaming a stark and rugged Maine coastline searching for the perfect combination of composition and light, he is at home with a camera in his hand. What started as a passionate hobby in 1980 soon blossomed into a full-time career. In 1988 Daniel had four images featured in the Kentucky Derby Museum. Work with the horse racing industry soon followed and in 1990 he was asked to be official photographer for the Kentucky Derby Festival. He held that position...

Wow, and even more WOWs. Daniel the is a great shot! For those who have never been there this is a hugh rock formation! And the sky behind it! Wow great capture!
Daniel Dempster replied:
Thank you Wilma. As you know it is in the middle of nowhere. It was pretty scary as there was no place to hide as everything else for miles around is totally flat.. It started pouring rain right after I shot this image and the storm looked really ominous. My son and I jumped into my Explorer but he dirt road was so slippery we couldn't drive any faster than about 15 mph. I've driven on ice that wasn't as slippery. I'm just glad the tornado headed off in the other direction or we might have been in real trouble.
