Ballintoy Parish Church. Ballintoy ecclesiastical parish.
This work was inspired by the outstanding structure of the Parish church located outside the picturesque village of Ballintoy, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland. I was inspired by the rolling clouds and impending rain clouds juxtaposed to the golden fields of freshly harvested hay. In my mind I see the Church as an anchor tying land and sky together in a majestic dance of life, giving and death. I have added some additional information about the location for you on the Church and its history. Paul was born and has spent most of his adult life in and around Ballycastle Co. Antrim. He has been heavily influenced by the both the local scenery around his home town and also further afield in the raised bog lands and mountains in Co. Donegal. Paul is heavily influenced by the traditional ways that people interacted with the landscape and its resources, and the sea and this reflected in many of the pieces he has produced. Paul first became interested in art when a member of his family opened a gallery selling works by local Irish artists.
