Description
This painting is of the Coast Guard Cutter Northland on patrol in the Arctic. She was one of the last steam and sail vessels in use by the Coast Guard. She served though WW II and was decommissioned. This painting was commissioned by the Coast Guard Foundation for History. The original will become part of the U. S. Coast Guard Academy collection. Signed and numbered prints will be awarded to the current and succeeding officer and enlisted person with the most sea duty. These individuals are known as the Silver Ancient Mariner (officer) and Gold Ancient Mariner (enlisted.)
