This is one of my Made in America interpretive compositions. Abraham Lincolns struggle during the civil war to keep America united makes for a special time in our history as a nation. I painted his face both positive & negative for the personal stress he personally endured. The north & south flags have bullet holes bleeding red behind Lincoln. This interpretation speaks volumes about the conflict and Americas blood loss to end slavery.
Painter + Designer Hello and welcome, please let me share with you who I am as an artist. I am blessed with a talent to visually interpret life through my paintings. Very unusual painting, Ross. It is indeed unfortunate that it was stolen. The use of positive and negative as a metaphor, especially to highlight the rift betwen the northern states and the southern states while he was president and the pressure that he was no doubt under to resolve the differences, is useful and effective. The slave boat adds the crowning touch as a statement to the already evocative work.
