The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

This is an old superstition that is still used today, except today we only go to seven and say: one for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy, five for silver, six for gold and seven is a secret that cannot be told! LOL! I found this one from 1846 and thought it was interesting too.
