just a beautiful greeting card
This is Coupeville, Washington on Whidbey Island. I've painted it looking back toward land from the end of the prominent historic town wharf. We are looking at essentially the back of the buildings. Their fronts face "Front" Street, which fronts Penn Cove. The sun is rising and coloring the clouds. The building up on the ridge and directly up the road from the wharf, is the town library. Behind this is where the town holds its farmers' market each Saturday. You can always find me there.
Perry studied and received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Washington State University, and has made a living with his art since 1965. His work is included in numerous collections and he holds many awards. Puget Sound raised, he lives on Whidbey Island fifty miles north of Seattle, Washington. Painting what surrounds him, he says, "I feel each piece of my art is like a word (or sentence), and when all is said and done I would hope people would say I had something interesting to say."
