Artist's Description
As I was hiking in the foothills a few months back, the full moon rose and began to illuminate the woods and mountains in its silvery light. Almost simultaneously, coyotes began to yip and howl in the meadow below me. I tried for quite some time to locate them and finally saw 2 as they ran in the tall grass and one more standing on a rock. I have no idea why coyotes seem to howl as the moon comes up, but it is one of nature's more sublime and beautiful mysteries.
