The Bird of Paradise is my number one favorite flower. You did a great job on capturing it's beauty.

Untill March 10, I was a Landscape Foreman. This guy here is the most beautifull Bloom in the World! Nice Capture!

Bird-of-paradise or crane flower (Strelitzia reginae) is a native of South Africa and is closely related to the banana. The plant derives its common names from the unique flower it bears, which resembles a brightly colored bird in flight.

I'm a long way from my southern roots in Anniston, Alabama. I have lived in Hawaii for the past 15 years, 1200 feet above sea level, on the small rural island of Moloka'i. It is very quiet here, with only about 7,500 residents, sort of like living in a small town in the middle of the Pacific ocean. I appreciate the quiet life after spending 35 years in the advertising/design/illustration business in Chicago and San Francisco. I have always loved cooking. Eventually that love led me to a degree in the Culinary Arts. Since then I have designed and built a house, worked in restaurants, self-published three cookbooks, and took up photography. Now retired, I spend most of my time developing recipes and photographing them, plus researching...
