Simplifying the architectural treatment of the original "Crocus" print, the purple and white bloom becomes the dominant theme. Eliminating the background color increases the focus on the star of the show and zooms the viewer into the center orange stalks.

Since moving from Minnesota, where everything goes dormant for 6 months out of the year, to Texas and then to Mexico Beach , where almost nothing does, change has become a common word in my vocabulary. Straying from my roots geographically, and surviving it, encouraged me to take a chance creatively as well. From the structure and conditions of graphic design and illustration for publishing and print advertising, I embraced the free spirit of fine art. I chose "nature" as a common element for three very distinctive styles of expression. The first, a traditional approach, resulted in cut-paper illustrations of florals and creatures.
