Artist's Description
I bought a chrysalis and watched it hatch out into this butterfly. While it was still stoned from its transformation, it allowed me to place it on this flower and take its photo. It soon came to its senses and flew away.
About Jean Noren
My passion is underwater and nature photography. I particularly like finding patterns and designs in nature and getting down to the very basics with super macro views. In my early years, I had extremely poor vision and, as a consequence, I would get very close to things in order to see them. I think this handicap influenced my technique as I tend to try and create brightly colored, closely cropped, in-your-face images that are easy to see. Revealing the beauty in the mundane is my goal. I live in the countryside of western Oregon and have no trouble finding frogs, birds, mushrooms and flowers to photograph.I travel to warm waters for underwater shots as often as possible. Enjoy the photos.

Wow, Jean, what an amazing shot! Love your description as well. Wonderful capture of a newly-emerged butterfly dangling from the petal of a Black-eyed Susan against black background...priceless. F/v. Fellow Oregonian, btw.
