... A clear and cool morning
on Driftwood Beach, Jekyll Island Georgia...
The tide is low
and the big oak trees
that have been captured
by storms through the years
are laying tranquilly on the wet sand.
This beach is known as Roots Beach
by the locals on the island.
Jekyll is a wonderfully natural island
on the south end
of coastal Georgia.
Driftwood Beach is so interesting,
full of large gnarly oak
trees and limbs,
half buried in the sand
at low tides,
while at high tides,
they are lapped
by the incoming surf.
As the tide goes out,
the sand ripples
and forms lovely wrinkles
and tidal pools...
