Your image gets printed directly onto a sheet of 1/16" thick aluminum. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. The wooden frame includes a hanging wire for easy mounting on your wall (see photo on the left).

Distortions of the Sun. 17th century diagram of the Earth explaining how the disc of the Sun appears distorted when seen close to the horizon. This effect, attributed to differential refraction, was first noted and explained by Scheiner. Line LI is the Tropic of Cancer, and line KM is the Tropic of Capricorn This woodcut illustration comes from Refractiones coelestes" by Christoph Scheiner, published at Ingolstadt in 1617."
