The beach towel is really just for laying on inasmuch as it is too big and heavy to put around your body, which is just fine. The artwork in it is beautiful. I can't wait to use it.

Wow - I didn't realise it was going to be that big! It's a gift for a young member of the family - I think he'll be thrilled as he's a tractor fanatic at 6 years old. A practical gift too. The towel has a smoother upper side so it'll be more comfortable to sit on at the beach. It seems to have a thick absorbent power so no usual skinny beach towel.

This painting was commissioned by Compagnie de Saint-Gobain as a retirement gift for Peter Hindle MBE, who is currently Senior Vice-President of Sustainable Habitat and General Delegate for Saint-Gobain in the UK, Ireland & South Africa. As such, he oversees the company's operations in the Construction Products, Building Distribution & Innovative Materials sectors in the UK, Ireland & South Africa, covering a total of 18,500 people across more than 40 separate businesses. He is also Chairman of all Saint-Gobain's businesses in the UK, Ireland & South Africa.
The painting is a montage showing some of the main highlights of Peter's distinguished career with Saint-Gobain. In the centre is a portrait of Peter and behind him is a globe to represent his current global responsibilities.
He started work in 1970 as an apprentice at Chadwicks and later moved to Jewson, where he worked his way up through the organisation, becoming the Managing Director in 1999. In 2003 Pet...
Award-winning artist, Richard Harpum, paints in a realist style, paying meticulous attention to detail. His medium of choice is acrylics on canvas or board but he also uses oils and paints watercolour florals. Richard's primary focus is landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and gardens but he also paints portraits, still lifes and florals. The effective use of light is a key ingredient to all of Richard’s works and he spends a great deal of time before starting a painting in selecting a composition that provides both drama and contrast. Born in Bromley, England, in 1951, Richard has had a passion for drawing and painting from a very young age. As a youngster, he was always drawing and became a prolific painter after he received an...

In 2003 Peter became Chief Executive of Saint-Gobain Building Distribution UK & Ireland and led the considerable growth of this sector, more than doubling its turnover and undertaking more than 70 acquisitions during his tenure. Other highlights shown in the montage are Peter receiving his MBE from Prince Charles in 2009 and also receiving a honorary Doctorate degree from Birmingham University in recognition of his commitment to charitable work through the development of Saint-Gobain's ‘Together' charity programme, which has now raised over £2.3 million for good causes. Other images in the painting show him down a mine in the UK run by British Gypsum, a Saint-Gobain business, together with an image of Cape Town, in South Africa. At the top left of the painting is Saint-Gobain’s headquarters in Paris, Les Miroirs, in recognition of Saint-Gobain’s foundation in 1665 in glassmaking.
