Dante Alighieri's relationship with the city of Verona dates back to the very early 14th Century when he spent around 7 years there in all, whilst in exile. In Piazza dei Signori (known as 'Verona's Drawing Room' or 'Lord's Square'), an imposing statue of the esteemed Italian poet has taken centre stage since 1865. Surrounded by buildings and monuments of great historical and architectural importance, he appears pensive, deep in thought, perhaps planning his next literary work. The square is one of the most beautiful in Verona's historical centre and was Dante's home for a time when he stayed at the Canagrande's Palace. The monument is a very popular meeting place and Dante is rarely alone, day or night, as tourists and locals alike continually flock to his feet, taking time out to enjoy the ambience of this very charismatic place.
I'm a travel photographer and photo artist. I like to explore every nook and cranny of anywhere I visit and I'm always looking out for something unusual or unique, weird and wonderful, interesting and intriguing. For me, half the challenge is in the initial taking of the photo, the looking for something that catches my attention, getting that perfect composition, but the other half is in the processing, the tweaking and twisting and the addition of a little imagination to see how much detail I can bring to the surface and hopefully let the viewer see the same as I did when I took the shot. My images have been shot here, there and everywhere, mainly in the historic cities of Europe and with the occasional one taken in my own surroundings...
