I was quite lucky to be able to travel slowly and spend as much time as I did in Dublin. If one had been there a day or two, it might have been a string of rainy days, but when the winter sun came out, it was a veritable feast for the eyes.

Such was the case on the particular day I gook this photo of Dublin's historic Custom House basking in the golden glow of the sun! The Custom House is an 18th century neoclassical styled building. It was, of course, built to collect customs or duties on goods flowing through the docks at Dublin. The building would be quite out of place today - as ships grew larger, all the large boats come into the river Liffey further downstream today. You see this often in large older cities where the remnants of shipping trade seem displaced.A lot changes in a couple of hundred years!

Even if its original use is gone, it's still a gorgeous piece of the Georgian fabric of Dublin!
