This dreamy scene is from the shores of an island in Solentiname archipelago in Lake Nicaragua. When I look back on my short stay there, it feels like a dream which may explain this very dreamy take on dusk in a Nicaraguan landscape.

This same tree on the shoreline features in another one of my views of the island. It was the first thing I saw on our arrival and its graceful limbs seem to have inspired and stuck with me on some level all of these years. It definitely has the feel of a ballet dancer caught in the midst of a pirouette.

The photo this was based on was a long exposure and the gentle waves of the lake had coalesced into nothing more than a haze of color reflecting the same soft pinks and blues as the sky above. The end result is so soft as to suggest the world beyond those shores has dissolved away, almost literally the edge of an eternal dream, the last piece of firmament in the sky...
