Absolutely loved my print. The depth and details are spectacular and the quality of the print is fantastic. I framed this in a white frame and didn't have the exact size handy so kept the lower space intentionally open. I love how it came out.

I bought this for a friend who lived in France for many years. Now that she is back in the states she misses France her favorite country. When I spoke with her on the phone she absolutely loved it. It showed all the places she lived or visited. She loved that it had an antique flair. She is getting it framed when she can. This my gift for her to bring up her spirits. She has stage 4 cancer. We live in 2 different cities & are comrades & would do anything for each other. When I saw it in the website I knew I had to buy it. Great work. Artist's Description
This historic site is also called the "Lourdes of America", because its' sacred sand pit is said to have healing properties, as attested to by a display of discarded crutches, braces, wheelchairs
and other medical aids, in the adjacent "Prayer Room".
In creating the 28" x 36" original oil painting, Santiago mixed a small amount of the sacred sand into his oil paints. This is a contemporary view of a historic and beautiful garden setting of this shrine, captured in 2004. It reflects both the timeless centuries of enduring tradition, and contemporary elements of a vital culture and religion.
About Santiago Chavez
Born "at home" in 1940, the third child of what was to be a family of ten children, Santiago grew up to appreciate the simple things in life and nature. There was no money for art training, but as long as he had a pencil and a "RED CHIEF" tablet of paper, he was happy sketching the world around him, after chores, school and other demands on his time. At about age 10, he and Rudolfo Anaya, a neighbor and future author, were playing "Cowboys and Indians", but Rudolfo had a real BB gun. As fate would have it, Santiago hid in a shed, peeking through a knot hole, when Rudolfo fired, scoring a direct hit on Santiago's right eye. Rural New Mexico was no place to treat such an injury, so he was sent to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Albuquerque....
