I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.

Homage to Frida Kahlo and Mexico. In this surreal painting Frida is surrounded by images of her homeland and her iconic unibrown has been transformed into a hummingbird in flight. Behind her are images of the sun to the left and moon to the right. The goddess of rain is represented in blue in front of the moon. Nopales grow to the right of Frida and to her left is the image of a pyramid. Corn and tropical leaves emerge from the earth. At the bottom of the composition are the consorts of the death god and skulls. I painted this in watercolor and gouache.
