Lovely card
This is an 11X14” oil painting that I recently painted from a number of still life compositions I set up and photographed in the summer of 2012. I used several reference photos to develop the actual composition which I sketched directly on canvas prior to painting. The other elements, fruit, flowers in a pewter bud vase, grape vine and blue vase, were added to make the composition more interesting, by varying the placement and height of the objects within the scene. Around 2006, I took several painting classes that inspired me to start preparing for my second career as an artist. Since 2006, I have painted over 100 works of art in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, and watercolor. I am mostly self-taught from reading and applying techniques provided by other artists and am continually learning and evolving my own painting style. As a predominantly realistic artist, I love to portray intricate details in my paintings of landscapes, gardens, houses,...
