Congratulations !

Love it! I was born in South Carolina raised in NY. My Yankee father always called me the Little Rebel and I grew up to become a big Rebel! To me this flag is about standing up to a government that one does not agree with.

Thanks Peter, yes exactly.

Linda, this is a superb portrait, regally capturing this famous general in such a pensive mood. I wonder if he ever thought how far reaching the effects of your American Civil War would be when he first marched his army forward into battle. I live near Liverpool over this side of 'the pond' and I can tell you this city became embroiled in this conflict in a way which surprised everyone. Even the 'final curtain' took place in the River Mersey - not far from the pier head. On November 6th 1865, Captain Waddell of the CSS Shenandoah surrendered his ship to Captain Paynter of HMS Donegal - yes, months after the so called official end of the war! Amazing. So, perhaps this painting is, historically, more important than you think Linda. Great work, keep them coming. Voted.

Thank you so much for your supportive comments and for this interesting information.

Artist's Description

A few years ago, I went to my first Civil War Reenactment and was swept into the past. I had no idea that these reenactors went into such detail when putting together these events. I was fascinated by the camps and the fact that even thier children dressed the part. I am now working in a series of paintings that are inspired by the reenactments I have been able to attend.
