...A porch swing from days gone by sits idle as grandma's blue Hydrangea bloom in the front yard of this Southern Appalachian cottage. The white clapboard walls of the cottage are peeling and need paint, the yard needs attention, but the plants are blooming profusely even without the careful tending of the previous owners. One can almost see Grandma sitting on the swing on her porch, admiring the gorgeous huge blue blooms on a misty,calm, and pretty Spring morning............................
Hydrangea is a genus of about 70 to 75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia and North and South America. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea.
