Great professional work. Thanks
Grays Harbor Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Washington State at 107 feet tall. The base of the lighthouse is 12 feet deep and made of concrete and stone. The outer walls are a full 4 feet thick at the base in order to support the structure.
Dedicated on June 30, 1898, this beautiful lighthouse has been on duty since. Early on, a fire burned one of the main structures and the oil buildings were moved in closer to the tower.
The third order Fresnel lens was finally turned off and a modern beacon started flashing the familiar signature patterns. The original lens is still in the lamp room and is draped to protect it from harmful sun damage. Also, the lens can start fires as it becomes a prism in bright sun. I have chosen to paint the lamp room undraped.
The original entry to the tower was removed and a truncated version put in its place. Even with this alteration, the tower is breathtaking and makes one take pause as they look skyward towar...
Art is in the eye of the beholder. I will not write in the third person here. That sounds pretentious and, most of the time, inaccurate. Being in the last third of my life, it becomes clear good health is the finest gift possible. Again, nature provides the most beautiful inspirations. Walk into your own garden. Stroll a beach or a path in the woods. Watch the sun and clouds or a kitten playing with a piece of string. Pay attention to the faces you see...they each tell their own story. Create something wonderful that has a piece of your own heart on it. The emotions that drive us human beings also drive our art. The viewer is respectfully reminded my works are copyright protected. Please visit me often. Kindest...

Thank you Shannon. I have made an art career documenting these structures. They were designed solely for good. Your short words capture my intent exactly.

Thanks Anne Elizabeth. I have been in this lighthouse several times. It is very tall and the stairs are very steep. There is an almost chimney kind of sound to it because of echoes. The folks who take care of lighthouses have to work pretty hard keeping them in shape. Rust is always an issue as well as mold because of the climate. Repairs are nearly constant. Also, these structures are getting old so their age shows if not taken care of. Keepers' dwellings were built with class and style. A lot have been moderinized and updated with new plumbing and kitchens and are now rented out to guest keepers for a fun weekend or even longer. New Dungeness here in Washington is one such light station.

I'm still fascinated by your lighthouses. It is part of our history and is ongoing as a fascinating subject to paint. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live in one or in an adjacent house.
