Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.
Artist's Description
The historic Great Falls Tavern located on the Maryland side of Great Falls along the C&O Canal (at about the 14 mile marker). Construction on the building began in 1828 and was expanded to become a hotel for travelers along the Canal in 1831. Eventually, the railroad replaced the Canal as an efficient means of transporting good East / West and the Tavern closed its doors. Today, the facility offers boat rides to tourists which include navigation through an authentic lock that travels a vertical distance of about 8 feet.

Incidentally, it was George Washington that was the chief advocate for building a canal to connect the Great Lakes and Ohio River to the Chesapeake Bay. He was originally hired by Lord Fairfax of Virginia to survey the western portion of his lands which lies along the Potomac River.
