Artist's Description

Taken from Kanyakumari, the holy site where the 3 oceans and seas mix at the southernmost tip of India (Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea). This woman is drying her sari after washing it, her husband is off-camera to the right. The statue on n island is of a famous Tamil Poet, Tiruvalluvar. The temple in the distance is on another island and is marking where Swami Vivekananda swam to and meditated.

Sam Oppenheim has been photographing for 15 years, during which he received a B.A. at Columbia University in Archaeology & Comparative Religion, a M.A. in the Archaeology of Ancient India at UW-Madison, and a M.A. in Education at City College New York. He is now a public school teacher at a 6-12th grade Middle-and-High School. Sam is a self-taught photographer who shoots both film and digital.
